Stamp - Master Dante by Ghostbusterlover Stamp - Master Dante by Ghostbusterlover
:iconcommentplz:

I've started to enjoy making stamps, so this is my third stamp I've put together. ^^

Master Durante "Dante" Alighieri (I added the Master-part myself) was an Italian poet, who has written the great books "La Divina Commedia" ("The Divine Comedy") and "La Vita Nuova" ("The New Life").
He's my favorite poet of all time - and he's also my inspiration in literature, especially poems. :)

Anybody welcome to use in Shoutboards & Journals.
:star:But I really appreciate if you comment first before faving!:star:

He definitely needs more love. On my recent trip to Florence, I visited his house plus his tomb and... let's just say that my heartbeat tripled in speed and I had to hold onto something to keep me from falling. :XD: It was awesome.

Do you think the world needs another Divine Comedy?

What exactly do you mean? A new adaptation of the original or a new epic poem that (might) top Divine Comedy? If it's the latter, then I'd say "no". XD No poem can be as epic as The Divine Comedy.

Not something better, but a new adaptation, something with the same impact as it did back then.

"For not only is the poem a religious and political allegory - it is an allegory of a rather special kind. If we know how to read it, we shall find that it has an enormous relevance both to us as individuals and to the world situation today. Dante's Europe - remote and strange as it seemed to the Liberals of the 18th and 19th centuries - had much in common with our own distracted times and his vivid awareness of the deeps and heights within the soul comes home poignantly to us who have so recently rediscovered the problems of evil and power, and the ease with which our most God-like imaginings are 'betrayed by what is false within'." - Dorothy L Sayers

I <3 that comment by Sayers.

I do hope there will be a new, great adaptation that is carefully following the original. Not like "Dante's Inferno", I didn't really like the changed interpretations of it. So far I like "Dante Shinkyoku" (the Manga) and the 1911 film with soundtrack by Tangerine Dream. The music there is mysterious and beautiful. <3

Which Dante's Inferno? The anime for the video game or the one with the cut-out puppets and modern setting?

I meant the anime/video game. I know about the other one, but it wasn't really in my taste.

The game and anime are both "Rated M for Money"
[link] . More like "R for Revenue". Hacking and slashing doesn't take any literary talent and the game pretty much specialises in nightmare fuel [link]

As for the other, I'd like to get my hands on it, but pity it hasn't been released outside America.

I'm reading the last Cantos of Purgatorio right now and I'm loving Dante's writing more and more <3 I wish my library carried The Divine Comedy in Spanish so I could have read it in a language closer to the original (if only I spoke Italian!)... Marvelous stamp, by the way.

Yes, his life story and books are a bit sad to read but highly fascinating. :) Good luck in your exam!

Many mythologies are interesting to read. :) If there's anything you want to know about Norse mythology, you can ask me. =D I'm kinda like an open book about it, though not 100% "perfect" info.
